MEETINGS

The Vaca Valley Volks Club meets the first Monday of the month at 7:00 PM at the Vaca Valley Hospital, 1000 Nut Tree Road, Vacaville. When there is a Monday holiday, the meeting is usually rescheduled to the 2nd Monday.  In February, we have a dinner meeting at a local restaurant in lieu of the regular membership meeting.  Please check our Calendar page for the date of the next meeting.  

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to anyone who likes to walk and wants to promote volkssporting. Dues are $7.00 per year for single, or $14.00 per year for a family membership. Come to a meeting or click here to go to the membership application. Print the application and mail to Bud Simmons, 304 Creekview Court, Vacaville CA 95688, with your check.

VACA VALLEY VOLKS MEETING MINUTES

DATE: August 2, 2010

PLACE: Vaca Valley Hospital, Vacaville, CA

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm by President Howard McGill.

1. ATTENDANCE:
There were 10 voting members present: Phil Braverman Steve Dmytriw, Janis Dmytriw, Roberta Dubois, Kitty Lockwood, Howard McGill, Bud Simmons, Jill Simmons, Tom Smith, and Marge Tye

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The July 5, 2010 Minutes were posted on the VVV Web Site, however not all members had read them. Jill Simmons, Secretary, read the July 5, 2010 minutes. The minutes incorrectly stated the next meeting date. It was listed as July 5, 2010 instead of August 2, 2010. A motion was made by Marge Tye to approve the minutes as corrected. Phil Braverman seconded the motion. Motion carried .

3. TREASURER'S REPORT:
Treasurer Bud Simmons presented the Financial Report for July 2010. The report will be filed for review.
Treasurer Bud Simmons provided the club's financial records for the 2008/2009 Fiscal Year and the 2009/2010 Fiscal Year for review. Tom Smith volunteered to review the two sets of financial records.

4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

A. BENICIA WALK SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 7, 2010
1. The Worker's Walk will be held Friday, August 6, 2010 at 9:30 am.
2. Start/Finish is the Benicia Senior Center, 187 East L Street.
3. The Check Point will be the Moth Ball Fleet observation point.

B. RUSH RANCH WALK SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 23 & 24, 2010

C. 2011 SCHEDULED WALKS

Mare Island Flyway Festival, February 5 & 6.
Lynch Canyon, April 16 and 17. Parking fees are $5.00 per car. We will encourage car- pooling.
Hercules, August 20 and 21.
Rio Vista, October 15 & 16.

5. NEW BUSINESS:

A. October is National Walking Month and walkers at our Lynch Canyon Walk will be eligible to order the patch award.

B. Jackie Wilson, Executive Director of the American Volkssporting Association is retiring on August 31, 2010. Nicole Rogers has been hired to take her place as Executive Director

6. ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR:

A. Howard announced that he had found information about a Quail Reserve Trail Walk at Lake Berryessa that might work as a future Club walk.

B. The American Volkssport Association's 17th Biennial convention will be held at Des Moines Iowa on June 18 - 26, 2011.

C. The September business meeting falls on September 6, Labor Day. The pros and cons of holding the meeting was discussed. Steve Dmitriw made a motion to cancel the September 6, 2010 meeting. Roberta Dubois seconded the motion. Motion carried.

7. CORRESPONDENCE. The American Wanderer was passed around for the members to look at.

8. ADJOURNMENT:
As there was no further business, Marge Tye made a motion to adjourn. Phil Braverman seconded the motion. The motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 7:40 pm There will be no business meeting in September.
